Romania's Monica Niculescu through to WTA Taipei Open women's quarter-finals
Publicat:Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu qualified on Wednesday for the quarter-finals of the WTA tournament in Taipei (Taiwan), featuring 226,750 dollars in prize money, after defeating 6th seed Zarina Dias of Kazakhstan, with a score of 6-0, 1-6, 6-4.
Niculescu (aged 30, WTA's 99th) managed to defeat her opponent after two hours.
Monica Niculescu secured a cheque worth 6,175 US dollars and 60 WTA points, and in the quarter-finals she is to face off the winner of the event between Germany's Sabine Lisicki and Japan's Nao Hibino.
